Phase 3 Phonics activity booklets: https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-l-6180-phase-3-workbook-resource-pack

Please use the active maths resources below whenever you would like to during the week, go on a shape hunt inside and outside. You could count objects outiside with your child and see which shapes they can identify/make with twigs etc. Please don't feel you have to complete all the Oak Academy lessons if your child is finding it hard to focus.

Monday 1st March

Phonics: We are having a recap of the most recent Phase 3 digraphs and trigraphs. Please follow the plan below or revisit the sounds that your child has found difficult. This week we are revising or, ur, ow, oi and ear. Tricky words: ‘they’, ‘all’, ‘my’

English:  This week is Book Week! The children in school will be able to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. In our Virtual Assembly, the children will be able to share their favourite books or talk about the reading they have enjoyed this week.

We are focussing on Julia Donaldson stories, as most people have some of the books and there are videos of them available.

Read 'Room on the Broom' with your child. Talk about the story, discuss the rhymes. See resource booklet below for ideas of activities to complete. Work with your child to pick out some of the rhyming words. Look at the spelling of the words. See if your child can spot that some words rhyme despite not ending in the same letters (e.g. hat and plait). Write lists of the rhyming words.

Here is a video of the story if you would like to use this:

As usual you can complete the Oak Academy English lessons if you would prefer.

Try to encourage your child to use the correct vocabulary to describe the witch's appearance and her character. (e.g. pointy hat, kind words). Draw a picture of the witch and try to write some of these words on the picture.
